James L. Newcomb Sr.

James L. Newcomb, Sr. age 77 of South Knoxville, passed away 5:58 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Fort Sander's Regional Medical Center.  He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church, retired from KCDC after 18 years of service, and a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam.  Preceded in death by parents; Gladys and Charlie Newcomb, sister, Marjorie Newcomb.  Survivors; daughter, Angella Newcomb; son, James L. Newcomb, Jr.; grandchildren, Ashley Jett and Kristen (Colin) Crosslin; 13 great-grandchildren; caregiver, Norma Newcomb, 4 sisters and 1 brother, many nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel followed by a 7:00 p.m. funeral service, Rev. Becky Milligan officiating.  Family and friends will meet 8:15 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery ( John Sevier) for an 8:30 a.m. committal service with full military honors provided by the East Tennessee Veteran's Honor Guard.  Condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com
