James “Mick” Pereira of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully Saturday morning, November 26, 2022, at his home. Mick was born in Bogota, Colombia and came to the states when he was 10 months old. He still has a lot of family in Colombia, who he loved very much. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jaime and Jackie Pereira. Mick was a Navy veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam. He worked many years for Exel Logistics and was relocated many times with this company. After retirement, he moved to Knoxville, TN. Mick loved golf, boating, friends, antique cars and his Cleveland Browns (and every other sport!). But most of all, he loved and cherished his family. He will be very missed by his family: his wife of 38 years, Gayle Aten Pereira; his daughters; Tammra (Chris) Grafton of Jacksonville, FL, Tanya Mendoza of Vista, CA, Taryn (Riccardo) Pereira in Kuwait and his son, James Michael Pereira, II of Anchorage, AK. He is blessed with grandchildren: Connor Grafton, Trevor Mendoza, Drea Mendoza, Adeline Ricchi and Aston Ricchi. He also leaves behind his sister Patt (Mike) Aiello of Friday Harbor, WA and his brother Jon (Renee) Pereira of Vonore, TN along with amazing nieces. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Mynatt Funeral Home. He will be buried on December 14, 2022, at 12:30 PM at the East TN State Veteran Cemetery. Mick was a devoted, loving and caring husband, father, brother and friend. He touched the hearts of all that knew him and will be loved and remembered forever.
