James Willard Martin

James Willard Martin age 83, of Knoxville, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church. A retired Carpenter by trade, but in his spare time he loved tinkering and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Willard and Mary Izela Munn Martin, brothers, Stephen Paul Martin and Anthony Wayne Martin, and grandparents: Betty and Kenneth Sandland and Mattie and Charlie Martin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Dick Martin, children: James Willard Martin, Jr. (Anny Martin), Ricky Wayne Martin, and Mark Allen Martin (Dawn Stacy); grandchildren: Sarah Brianna Martin Adams (Wilson Adams), Dr. Taylor Martin (fiancé Zachary Skaff), Delaney Grace Martin (boyfriend Bryce Richardson), Joshua James Martin, Jordan Bauban, Justin Bauban, and Rachel Stacy; sisters: Judy Ann Martin Hawk and Deborah Faye Martin Wyatt, brother, Danny Joe Martin, several nieces and nephews, childhood friends, Billy and Bea Dison, and neighbors, Tolliver and Brooklyn Justice.

Family and friends may call at their convenience from 10:00 am- 5:00 pm on Friday, May 16, 2025, and the family will receive friends from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, with no service to follow. Family and friends will meet Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12:45 pm at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery for a 1:00 pm graveside service officiated by Pastor Donnie McGinnis.
