James Walker Hurst

James Walker Hurst age 70 of North Knoxville, passed away suddenly Tuesday, December 17, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family and leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.  James was known for his willingness to help others and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  He found joy in the simple things like spending quiet days fishing, escaping to the mountains and enjoying the peace of the outdoors.  He will be remembered for his kind heart and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him.  His memory will live on through the stories and love he gave so freely.  Preceded in death by his parents; Vearl and Charles Hurst; son, James H. Hurst; granddaughter, Brandy Hurst; brothers, Bill, Doug, David, Paul and Charles Hurst.  Survivors; children, Ronisa Hurst and Eric (Rebecca) Houser; grandchildren, James Duggins, Kelsey Hurst, Sabrina Duggins, Joshua Houser, Breanna Henry, and Layla Strozier; and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel followed by a 7:00 p.m. funeral service, Rev. Tony Colson officiating.  Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at Thorngrove Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service.  Condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com.
