Iva Beatrice McGinnis

Iva B. McGinnis, age 82, of Powell, TN, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023. Iva was a well-loved woman with an infectious smile, laugh, and sense of humor. If you were family or her friend, you know how much she loved you.  She was a hard worker doing any job to the best of her ability and always the first to drop everything to lend a hand. Iva attended Sunnyview Baptist church for 50+ years where she sang and played guitar. She will be remembered for her big heart, impressive guitar picking and her appetizing hot tamales. She was preceded in death by husband, Clarence McGinnis; grandson, Tony Daniels and son in law, Bob Perry. Iva is survived by her children, Linda Perry, Wayne and Mary McGinnis, Sharon McGinnis Daugherty and step children Roger and Lisa and Brian Merritt; grandchildren, Misty and Brad Barkow, Kenneth and Molly Merritt, Thomas Merritt and Alayna Daugherty; great-grandchildren, Alex Daniels, Emma Barkow, Elliott Barkow and Eleanor Merritt. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM. Reverend Joe Norris officiating.
