Hubert Earl Bundon, age 93, went to his home in heaven on Saturday, February 14, 2026. He is survived by three children, Brenda (Howard) Jewell, Michael (Joy) Bundon and Rebecca (Phil) Kelly; six grandchildren, Jonathan (Heather) Bundon, Michaela (Jason) Odom, Lesley (Jeremy) Pickell, Brandt (Sonya) Jewell, Jonathan (Shanna) Kelly, Andy (Megan) Kelly; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Born in Maryville, TN on September 25, 1932, to Cleotha Braden Bundon and Ninnon Bundon, the family later moved to Tazewell TN while his father served in the Army. They returned to the Wildwood community in Maryville when he was in the third grade and that year he met his bride-to-be of 72 years, Bonnie Jean Burdine Bundon, whom he married on September 16, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2023.
Through diligent work and a frugal lifestyle, they supported all three children through graduations from Carson-Newman College. Each child also completed advanced degrees at various universities.
Hubert retired after 44 years with the US Postal Service where he received the One Million Mile Safe Driving Award while serving communities throughout Blount County. Hubert and Bonnie were devoted Christians and served throughout their lives in several Baptist churches in the Maryville area. Hubert’s areas of service included Director of Music, deacon, Sunday School teacher and leader.
There will be a Call at Convenience on Thursday, February 19 from 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, where the body will lie in state for those in the community who wish to pay their respects. On Friday, February 20 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, located at 5302 Nails Creek Road in Maryville, from 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM the body will lie in state followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10:00 AM. There will be an informal time of fellowship with family and friends following the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery and there will not be a graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to your local church and/or Shalom Hospice.
