Horace Robert Williams, Sr., age 89, of Claxton, TN, passed away on September 12, 2024.
Horace was a lifelong member of Edgemoor Baptist Church in Claxton, TN where he was active on many mission trips and, in his adult years, served on the Building Grounds Committee.
He was instrumental in the Claxton Community serving with various organizations such as The Claxton Community Youth Organization, the Claxton Optimus Club, and IBEW, Local Union 270 where he served as business manager emeritus from 1969 – 1970. He also served as a coach for many years with the Claxton Football Association.
Horace is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Beulah Williams; granddaughter Jessica Graham; mother-in-law, Thelma Dean; brothers, Herman Williams, Fred Williams, Joe Williams, Tommy Williams, and sister, Argie Bell. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Anne Dean Williams; children, Horace Robert Williams, Jr., (Beverly); and Tracy Wray Williams; grandchildren, Travis Lee Evans, Taya Wrayanne Sharp, Dylan Ray Williams, Brady Williams, Ashley Smith, and Heather Jones; great-grandchildren, Madly Anne Sharp, Lilly Wray Sharp, Beckham Ray Williams, Mary Lavell Williams, Claira Walker, Nolan Smith, Juliette Smith, Collette Smith, Ellie Jones, Grayson Jones, and Alaina Jones.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel (2000 Powell Drive, Powell, TN 37849) with a funeral service to follow. Reverend Travis Lee Evans, officiating.
The family will meet on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 1:45 PM for a 2:00 PM graveside service at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens (160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849).
