Homer Evan Neely

Homer Evan Neely, age 89 of Knoxville, TN, born, March 6, 1933, in New Tazewell, TN passed away, February 5, 2023. Homer was a member of Emory Pike American Christian Church. He worked as a Supermarket Meat Cutter until he was 83 because he loved his “customers” and the daily interaction. He spent his leisure time playing golf, going to UT football games, listening to gospel music, meeting friends for breakfast and conversation, and took great pride in caring for his home and lawn. His strong family and Christian values, words of wisdom, firm handshake, sense of humor, and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Mimia Neely; brothers, Howard, Melvin, Thomas, Gabriel, Glen, and Dan Neely; sisters, Glayds, Hazel, Imogene and Katherine. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Thelma; daughter, Patricia; son, Coy (Leslie); daughter Sandy (Teddy), granddaughter Courtney (Shane) Bowen, grandson, Cody (Hailey) Keck, great grandchildren, Harper Belle Bowen, Cleo Jo Keck, and Brooks McCoy Bowen. Special nieces Linda (Mike) Atkins, Joyce (Gary) Davis and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends Thursday, February 9, 2023, 5:00-7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm, Reverend Dallas Harrell officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:45 pm Friday, February 10, 2023, for a 1:00 pm interment service.
