Herman Lester “Les” Spencer, age 76, from Morristown, Tennessee, and later of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Les’ greatest accomplishment, joy, and love was his daughter, Ashley, and his grandson, Mason.
Les held many different occupations throughout his life. In his younger years, he worked in the coal mines. He later owned his own auto parts store and worked as a sales representative for TVK and Gates Manufacturing. He then worked as an IT specialist at Jewelry Television, where he retired.
Les looked forward to any opportunity to cheer on the Volunteers from his recliner, whether it was football or basketball. He also enjoyed NASCAR races and spending Saturdays having dinner with family or friends. He loved music and movies and often shared his favorites with family and friends. In earlier years, he was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Wanda Spencer, and his brothers, Larry, Bryan, Harold, and Daryl Spencer.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Messer; son-in-law, Colt Messer; and grandson, Mason Messer; his uncle, Charles Bolin; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Bill James and David Moore.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm - 7:00pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City chapel. Condolences can be made at www.mynattfh.com.
