Knoxville

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Elizabeth Mynatt McConkey, who left this world on Sunday, September 3 at the age of 88. She was a long-time member of Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She was the loving heartbeat of our family and leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering devotion.

She grew up with a deep appreciation for family values, and throughout her life, she exemplified the true meaning of selflessness and love. She was a dedicated homemaker, and her family was her life's work. Her home was a sanctuary of love, where her children and grandchildren felt the warmth of her nurturing spirit.

Helen had a deep love for the simple joys in life. She took great pride in caring for her grandchildren and found beauty in everyday moments, whether it was tending to her garden or preparing her delicious family recipes. Her laughter was infectious, and her smile could light up any room.

Helen is preceded in death by husband, Earl Wesley “Pete” McConkey; daughter, Cynthia Thomas; son-in-law, Gary Monroe; parents, Carl and Irene Mynatt; sister, Ellen Bright; brother, Phillip Mynatt, and many other cherished family members.

Survived by children, Mike (Janet) McConkey, Sandra Monroe, and Lisa (Michael) Brown; Grandchildren, James Thomas II, Jessica (Scott) Stanford, Emilee (Jesse) Brower, Phillip (Amber) Monroe, Paul McConkey, Sarah Monroe, and Samantha (Justen) Collins; Great Grandchildren, James Thomas III, Hayden Thomas, Grace Brower, Connor Brower, Ozias Collins and Stuart Collins; Siblings Robert Mynatt, Anna Speegle, Janie Downey, and Paul (Joan) Mynatt. We will continue to cherish her memory and carry forward the values she instilled in each of us.
