Helen Joyce Grizzell

Helen Joyce (Turner) Grizzell age 90, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026. She was a faithful and longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James C. Grizzell, Jr.; father, Rector Vertrue Turner; mother, Eula Mae (Simmons) Turner; granddaughter, Jessica Dawn Grizzell; and brother, Charles V. Turner.

Helen is survived by her children, Cathy E. (Grizzell) Pettiford and her husband, Steve; James Scott Grizzell and Timothy Vertrue Grizzell and his wife, Renea; grandchildren, Gregory M. Pettiford, Holly Michelle Lee, Randall S. Pettiford, Kristin H. (Grizzell) Collins, Nathan I. Grizzell, Bethany E. (Grizzell) Miller and Carrie L. Grizzell; and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by a 7:00 PM funeral service officiated by Pastor Jeff LaBorg. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 AM at Milan Baptist Church Cemetery in Maynardville on Saturday, August 29, 2026, for an 11:00 AM interment.
