Helen Ayers Gunderson age 83 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2012 at Tennova Residential Hospice, surrounded by her family. Helen was born March 15, 1929 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. She is a member of the Smithwood Baptist Church. Helen was preceded in death by her husband; Richard Gunderson, parents Herbert & Rosetta Atkins, brother Ed & Maxine Atkins, son; Michael Ayers & Daughter; Debbie Ayers Overholt. She is survived by her brother David & Barbara Adkins from Charlotte Hall of Maryland; 3 grown children Steven & Carol Ayers of Louisville, Kentucky; Marvin & Judy Eichorn of Johnson City, Tennessee, & Jeff & Nancy Ayers of Clinton, Tennessee, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, & many other family & friends, including Dot Kitts Rose the sister she never had, & Michael Matlock. Helen’s family extends a very special thank you to Dr. Udit Chaudhuri, Dr. Kendra Hendon, & all the great doctors & nurses at Parkwest Medical Center on 3rd floor, Tennova Hospice for 3 days. Service 7 pm Friday Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain Chapel. Rev. Curtis Ackers officiating. Family & friends will meet 1:45 pm Saturday Middlesboro Cemetery for interment at 2 pm. the family will receive friends 5 to 7 pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City.
