Gwendolyn Marie Smith

Gwendolyn Smith, age 71, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. She was a member of Branville Baptist Church, a 1972 graduate of Gibbs High School and a 1976 graduate of Cooper’s Institute of Business, where she learned sign language and met many of the deaf. She was preceded in death by her parents, James (J.T.) and Octer (Ott), siblings, Joel and Ester Smith, and great nephew, Gavin Roberts. Gwendolyn is survived by her siblings, Tammy Roberts and Michael (Lorie) Smith; nephews, Troy and Thomas (T.J.) Roberts; nieces, Leslie (Daniel) Smith and Megan (Bryce) Blanchard; great nieces and nephews: Courtney (Gage) Dubose, Whitney Roberts, Hadley and Landon Smith and Piper Blanchard; and a host of numerous other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Marcia Lyons, the nurses and techs (PCT) at Fresenius Kidney Care of Powell and Smoky Mountain Hospice. A very special thank you to Becky Hill. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by a 2:00 PM memorial service. Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Gwendolyn Smith.
