Gloria Ann Aslinger

Gloria was born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, to Sam Paul and Edna Ann Henley Lombardo. She was the first of eight children, making her the big sister, who helped to raise the rest of the little ones. Her love of family started at this young age, growing more with the passing of time. Gloria was a smart student, becoming the Valedictorian of her high school class. In high school she enjoyed going to the sock hops and dancing the time away. To practice the dance steps, she enlisted her sister to be the ‘guy’ who learned so well that at her first dance, where she was supposed to be the girl ended rather comically, since she was leading the boy’s part. Her brothers loved Gloria and thought her the prettiest girl they knew, as Gloria was all dressed up for her prom. After graduation, the Lombardo family moved to Alcoa, Tennessee and Gloria entered Knoxville Business College. After graduation she worked for Travelers Insurance company until her eyesight failed her. It was through determination and faith in God that Gloria persevered through all her health problems. She loved all her extended family, giving birthday wishes and checkup calls to see how they were doing. When needed she helped with a listening ear, a hug, financial help, or whatever else was needed.

Gloria was born August 19, 1945, in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi and passed away in her sleep, Monday, June 15, 2026, at her home in Knoxville, Tennessee. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Paul Lombardo and Edna Ann Henley Lombardo; her brothers, Thomas Paul, John Michael and Charles Timothy; and her sister, Mary Frances.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Jim Aslinger; and by her sisters, Jackie Foster, her husband, Tom; and their daughter, Wendy; and sister, Margie, her husband, Randy Nichols; and their daughter, Michelle; and grandchildren, Avery, Italia, India, and Abram; her sister, Cathy and her husband, Bob Potter; their children: Jason, his wife, Carrie and their children, AJ, Oscar and Laney Hardin; Michael Hardin and his wife, Danielle; and Joseph Potter and his children, Josie and Remi Potter; her sister-in-law, Dixie Lombardo and children: Andy, his wife, Jodie; and their children, Bailey and Myers; and Joey Lombardo, his wife, Catherine; and their children, Christopher, Justice and Edward Charles. Gloria is also survived by Jim’s children, Michael, Missy, Kimberly, and Darryl Aslinger that all loved and were loved by Gloria. The family wishes to thank UT Hospice Service especially Megan, Kelly, Tracy, and Chaplain Phillip Groos, for their loving care of Gloria and support of Jim.

Family and friends will meet at 12:45 PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Sherwood Memorial Gethsemane Garden for a 1:00 PM Graveside service officiated by Chaplain Phillip Groos.
