Gerald Edward Samon

Gerald “Jerry” Samon, age 61, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He shared his life with Janet Samon, the love of his life, and was the father of Malaina Samon and Amaya Samon (Spencer). Nothing brought him greater joy than being “Papaw” to his treasured granddaughters — Malaysia, MaKinley, Avalyn, and Vada — each a bright light in his life.
A skilled and dedicated contractor, Jerry approached every project with care and craftsmanship. Outside of work, he found his happiness in the great outdoors. Whether he was boating, skiing, or spending time on the water, these were the moments he valued most. He also had a deep love for music and concerts.
Jerry is survived by his sisters Donna (Benny) Dalton, Terry Hayworth, Tammy (Mike) Longmire, and Susan Givens, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by Norah Carver, Naomi Ballard, Richard Ballard, Wanda Montgomery, Judy Hodge, and Ruth Roach.
Those who knew Jerry will remember his kindness and his humor. His family will continue to cherish the memories and love he leaves behind.
Funeral Services Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry’s life on Wednesday, December 10, at New Corinth Baptist Church, 2607 New Corinth Road, Rutledge, TN 37861, receiving friends from 1:00–3:00 PM, with a funeral service at 3:00 PM and the graveside service to follow immediately afterward in the church cemetery. Jerry will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
