Gerald Emmett Turner

Gerald “Jerry” Turner, age 86 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2019. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. Jerry retired from KUB after 27 years of service and from Wells Fargo after 10 years. Preceded in death by parents Fred and Verla Turner; son Michael David Turner; brother, Charles “Chuck” Turner. Survived by wife of 30 years Carolyn Turner; daughters Lisa Turner and Kay and Steve Simpson (whom he loved as a son); grandchildren Reece Simpson and Blayne Simpson, who were a delight in his life. Family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with a service to follow at 7:00pm, Rev. Toby Everrett and Dr. Phil Young officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45am Friday, August 9, 2019, at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00am interment.
