George Arthur Jones

February 1, 1939 — November 26, 2023

George Arthur Jones "Man of Honor", 84 of Knoxville, TN, went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2023. He was a man of many talents and received numerous awards for his efforts as a part of the 92nd Bombardment Team, Heavy in his years of military service for the USAF as well as in his career at Martin Marietta. Additionally, he was a 32nd degree Mason of Choto Lodge, a Shriner & member of the TN Valley A Model Club. A loving father, grandfather, & friend. He gave his all to God, family, and country. He is preceded in death by beloved parents, Winthrop and Mattie Lou Jones; brother, James Edward Jones; sister Betty Jean Richards. He is survived by loving wife of 66 years, Nancy Jones; son, Charlie (Glenda) Jones; daughter, Yvon Jones; grandchildren, Joshua Crawford, Sheena Shields, and Jerrica Mayo; and 5 great-grandchildren. Committal service will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Hwy, officiated by Rev. Carl Oaks. Full military honors conducted by East TN Veterans Honor Guard. Many thanks to the nurses at the Thompson Cancer Center, Fort Sanders Oncology, Professional Case Management and Hospice.
