George Richard Burden

George "Richard" Burden - age 57, of Knoxville, TN, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at LeConte Medical Center. He fought a hard battle following a right above the knee amputation in June 2025. 

Richard lived his life laughing and enjoying a good joke and any moment spent with the love of his life, fiancée, Kelly and their kitty cats. Also, was a Vols fan to the end! As much as he adored his grandkids, Bryssen and Nataley Hooks and also, Stellah, the adored their Papaw "Wichard". 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Headrick and Peggy Wilson; niece, Tori and stepson, Anthony Dylan Hatmaker. 

Richard is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Jennifer; sister, Candy; love of his life and fiancée, Kelly (Welch) Hatmaker; daughters, Brittany Hatmaker and James and Jessika Hatmaker; grandkids, Bryssen, Nataley and Stellah; nieces, C.J., Sierra, Crista, Lexi and Cheyenne and a nephew, Madison. Richard will be missed by his family and many, many special friends. 

The family would like to thank LeConte Medical Center and Covenant Hospice for their excellent care given to Richard and for their compassion for his family. 

Family and friends will meet at Tuckahoe Baptist Church Cemetery, 1837 Richards Lane, Knoxville, Tenn. 37914, on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 12:30 PM for a 1:00 PM graveside service with Rev. Lee Breeden officiating.
