Gary Zachary Murphy

Gary Zachary Murphy (Roscoe) passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2025. Gary was born on August 21, 2023, to Josh Murphy and Brittney Fitzpatrick. After a 3 month stay at UTMC NICU, Gary Came home to live with his Auntie Sara and Uncle Nick. His daddy joined him.

Gary has been a fighter since day one. Enduring premature birth, three-month NICU stay, ASD repair surgery at Vanderbilt where he continued to thrive through his recovery. 

Gary brings light to every room he enters. His cackle was truly contagious. His blue eyes were captivating. The happiest boy no matter the circumstance. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him. Especially his Daddy Josh, Auntie Sara and Uncle Nick, his Mimi and his cousins Eden and Atalaya.

He is survived by his father Joshua Murphy, his mother Brittney Fitzpatrick, great grandfather Roy (Sandy), grandparents Vicki Murphy and Phillip Nicely, Aunt Sara (Nicholas), Uncle Andrew (Brooke and cousin Cannon), Great Aunt Angie, Great Uncle Brian (Missy), Great Aunt Lisa (Larry) first cousins Eden and Atalaya and many second cousins.

The family would like to extend gratitude to all of Gary's providers including Shults Pediatrics, ETCH Cardiology, ETCH Pulmonology, Vanderbilt team, ETCH Home Health, Blount Memorial Rehab, UTMC NICU team, dietician and TEIS Services.

The family specifically wants to thank Stephanie with UTMC NICU, Stacey with Children's Home Health, Yvonne Bremer (Cardiologist) and Stephanie with Sunshine Services. You all were a true blessing to Gary and his caregivers.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by a 7:00 PM funeral service officiated by Jody Darden. Family and Friends will meet Friday, January 10, 2025, at 10:15 AM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel and travel in procession to Browns Gap Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.
