Gary Helms

Gary Everett Helms, age 67, of Lenoir City passed away August 9, 2015. He was a Corpsman in The United States Navy and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a huge fan of The U.T. Vols Football and once held the World Record for Striped Bass and was a Plumber and Steam Pipe Fitter. Preceded in death by, parents, Everett and Christine Helms. Survivors, daughters, Kim McCreave and Kari Helms; son, Kevin Helms; grandchildren, Hunter, Grace, Nico, Emma and Nathan, all of Memphis, TN; brothers, Jerry Helms of Memphis, Tn., Tommy Helms of Knoxville, Tn.; sisters, Debby Milam of Texas and Angela Hatfield of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews and his beloved pet Patches. Family and friends will meet 11:15 am Friday at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Gov. John Sevier Highway for inurnment service at 11:30 am. Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel In charge of arrangements. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
