Gary E French, 81, of Blaine, TN, passed away on April 3, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenna French; daughter, Laura D. Rose (Ronnie); niece, Sheila Emory (Manny) and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his son, Timothy French; parents, Doc and Hilda French, and brothers, Bob French and Jack French.
Gary was a loving and devoted husband, father, friend, and firefighter. He served as a fire inspector and later retired as a Captain after serving with the Knoxville City Fire Department. Gary was also a student in the very first paramedic class in the state of Tennessee. He had a great knowledge of history, loved to play golf, had a passion for music and played the keyboard in a small band during his younger years. Gary was a member of Block Springs Baptist Church in Blaine.
Family will receive friends from 11am-1pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. A funeral service will immediately follow with Chaplain Paul Trumpore officiating. Family and friends will then go in procession to Bell’s Campground Cemetery for the interment service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.
