Garrett Walter Post, age 89, of Corryton, passed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and family. Gary proudly served his country as a United States Air Force Airman third class, serving with great honor and pride. Later in life, Gary was an active member of the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard, where his roles included participating in rifle salutes and playing Taps. Gary was a loving husband and a cherished father and uncle. He lived his life as a proud American patriot, a jack of all trades, a caring neighbor, and an amazing friend to anyone who wanted to converse. He carried himself with quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the honor of knowing him. His commitment to service extended far beyond his military years and was reflected in the way he lived—with humility, loyalty, and compassion. Gary loved spending time with his “honey,” enjoying Sunday afternoon drives and getting lost together. He was famous for taking shortcuts through parking lots to avoid red lights—much to everyone’s amusement. As a husband, he loved spoiling his wife with weekly roses. Earlier in life, Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing, which later transitioned into feeding his backyard birds and the occasional pesky squirrel that refused to give up. He had a deep love for woodworking and even became an employee at Gibson Guitar, where he built his very own guitar. Gary enjoyed telling stories about working on B-52 bombers during his time in the Air Force. Every morning, he enjoyed his coffee and casual conversations at local businesses. He also loved dining out, especially treating himself to his favorite raspberry malt from Culver’s. Gary always had house projects underway and was always willing to help neighbors with theirs. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ault and Evelyn Post, and his two siblings, Jack and Bob. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Pat); his children, Rhonda, Dawn, Bradley, Brent, and Amberley; and extended family members, including a sister-in-law, nieces, a son-in-law, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever treasure his love, wisdom, and gentle spirit. Gary will also be deeply missed by his two precious fur babies (kitty cats), ShyAnna and AnnaRose. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his generous heart, and the love he freely gave. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the faith he shared.
