Gareth Palmer Monroe

Gareth Palmer Monroe, age 89 of Washburn, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2016. He was 50 year 32nd Scottish Rite Mason, and a 65 year Member of Masters Lodge #244. He was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. Survived by loving wife of 69 years, Zena Collins Monroe; son, Michael P. Monroe; daughter, Rebecca A. Monroe; ex daughter-in-law, Vickie Monroe; granddaughters, Ginger Helton and Robin Rowan; great-granddaughters, Sydney Helton and Katey Helton; brothers, Clyde, Gene, Larry, and Jesse Monroe; sisters, Carol Foggin and Kate Webb; and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church of Fountain City Building Fund. The family will receive friends 10:00 am to 12:00 noon Thursday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Masonic Service to follow, Rev. Ron Mouser officiating. Family and friends will proceed to Ft. Sumter Cemetery for interment following service.
