It is with heavy hearts we share that Fred Eugene Braden, Jr. passed away on October 25, 2026, at the age of 62.

Son of Fred Braden and Carol Lowe and beloved step-son to Mildred Braden, Fred grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee alongside his brother Shannon and sister Missy. He was a devoted and selfless father, an avid explorer of national parks, and the best electrical salesman Tennessee has to offer.

If you knew Fred, you knew he was kind, generous, and always willing to listen. You knew he made the best Cincinnati Chili. You knew he loved Duke basketball. You knew his favorite and most used word was an exasperated, “shew!” (And now we will miss it so much.)

Fred had a great passion for hiking and the outdoors. He loved to explore new trails with his girlfriend Andrea Buzeta, and take pictures of everything along the way, appreciating its beauty in the way God created it. Even being an experienced hiker, Fred didn’t have the best sense of direction and was banned from hiking by himself ever again. A story we are sure he is laughing about with his dad in heaven right now.

Fred took the most pride in his children. His memory and legacy live on through his three boys, Taylor, Sam, and Eli, and his granddaughter, Claire, whom he loved deeply. He was a devoted father who spent many years at sports fields, brewed countless pots of weak coffee for everyone, and was always the first phone call when someone needed anything. Fred displayed complete selflessness in a way we hope to imitate.

More than anything, Fred loved Jesus, and that love spilled over onto others through his actions and generosity. We find comfort and cling to the truth that Fred is home with Jesus, the race here on earth complete.

Fred was the biggest blessing in our lives, and he will be deeply missed. We promise, Fred, that we will Be the Blessing for others.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held Thursday, October 29 from 4-7 p.m at 1721 Beauchamp Loop, Knoxville, Tn 37938.
