Finna Evelyn Ellison Sherritze

 Finna Evelyn Ellison Sherritze age 91, of Knoxville, TN., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 5, 2024, after complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. She was a lifetime member of the Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church in which she served in many capacities as long as her health permitted. Finna was born on a farm in the Sharps Chapel community of Union County, TN., to the late Swan and Zola Ellison. She attended Horace Maynard High School, where she met the love of her life, Wade McCoy Sherritze. They were married on May 7, 1951, for almost 60 years until Wade’s passing. She was a devoted wife and mother who was always there for her family. Finna was also an avid competitor and loved playing and winning Bingo and card games at the Halls Senior Center, which she attended for many years. Finna was also preceded in death by her brother, JF Ellison. She is survived by her children: Vicky Hodges Atkins and son-in-law, Joe, and son, Benny Sherritze and daughter-in-law, Vickie Ann; granddaughters: Jennifer (Chris) Mayes, Amanda (Mark) Greenwood, Katie (Rhett) Jordan, and Erica (Lewis) Strangward; and great-grandchildren: Emma and Sam Mayes, Connor and Cooper Wheeler, Jackson and Grayson Greenwood, and Evelyn “Evie” Strangward. The family will receive friends Monday, December 9, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by an 11:00 am funeral service officiated by Elder Daniel Wood. After the service family and friends will travel in procession to Phillip Keck Cemetery for an interment service. In lieu of flowers the family ask the donations in Finna’s honor be made to Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church 5529 N Broadway St, Knoxville, TN 37918.
