CARTER, Evert Lee – of Montrose, Michigan formerly of Corryton, Tennessee, age 89, died Friday, July 11, 2025, at Hurley Medical Center. Evert was born December 14, 1935, in Corryton, Tennessee, to the late Fred and Katie (Karnes) Carter. He graduated from Gibbs High School in Corryton, Tennessee and honorably served in the United States Navy. Evert shared 16 years of marriage with Laveda Carter. Laveda preceded him in death. On December 23, 1983, Evert married Carmen McDermaid, and together they shared 25 years of marriage .Carmen preceded him in death in 2008 Evert was also preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Dale, Ralph and Lynn Carter. He most recently worked at Austin’s Paint and Floor Company but was known to be a jack of all trades who could do just about anything. Evert was a hardworking man who enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and reading a good book. He was an incredible man who will be dearly missed. Evert is forever remembered by: Beloved Daughter, Lisa (Anthony) Love; Stepdaughter, Paula (Andy) May; Grandsons: Brett (Melody) May and Jared May; Great Grandsons: Trevor and Colton May; Niece and Nephew: Barbara Dees and Gary Carter, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends: Bonnie and Steve Matzke. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2025 at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, 3424 Fairview Road Corryton, TN 37721 for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service, Rev.
