It is with great sorrow the Yandell family announces the death of Eric Jones Yandell on August 11, 2026, of a heart attack in the home of his sister in Knoxville, TN.
Eric was born in Chicago in the community of South Shore to his parents, the Reverand Dr. William Edgar Yandell and Gladys Elizabeth Jones Yandell. His sister is Faith Yandell, of Knoxville, and his brothers are Mark and Kent Yandell, of Lake Bluff, Illinois.
Eric graduated from Lake Forest High School and attended North Michigan University and Lambuth College in Jackson, TN. Eric was a frame carpenter in business with his brother in Mark Yandell Construction Company in Lake Bluff, Illinois. For the last ten years he lived with his sister, Faith, in Knoxville, and was disabled from a construction accident and heart disease.
Eric adored his nephews, Jack and Scott Yandell, and his nieces, Kim Webb, Taylor Stroud, Katie Rose Yandell, Laine Burdick and Claire Yandell. His great nieces are Grace Webb, of Knoxville, Marlo and Linden Stroud, of Indianapolis, IN, and great nephews are Jonah Burdick, of Navada City, California, and Jamie Yandell, of Lake Forest, IL.
Eric adored sports. He faithfully watched the Chicago Cubs and could tell you about any players and statistics since he learned how to talk. He played baseball and coached little league as an adult. In high school he playted hockey and has followed the Chicago Black Hawks. His greatest sports love was golf. He started playing in 6th grade and worked on the Lake Bluff golf course in 7th grade. For many years he was a daily player who enjoyed winning tournaments with his friends. After moving to Knoxville, he adopted the University of Tennessee football, baseball and basketball teams-especially the Lady Vols.
Eric’s Great Pyrenes puppy, Nico, is missing him. His precious Golden Retriever, Annie, is waiting to greet him in Heaven.
A family of origin only memorial event will be held on October 4, 2026, in Lake Bluff, Illinois. Those wishing to make memorial gifts should direct them to the Anderson County Animal Shelter.
