Embry Duane Gary

Gary, Embry D. (Nick) - Age 93, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at home Feb. 9. Nick was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church, Farragut. He retired as an engineer from TVA in the late 1980s and previously, Dover Elevator (in Hernando, MS). He loved working with his hands and was an accomplished artist, private pilot, ham radio operator, auto mechanic and woodworker. Nick was preceded in death by his parents; Robert Embry Gary and Annie Louise (Carpenter) Gary; brother, Robert Harold Gary; sisters, Sue Betty (Gary) Cunningham; Sara Jean (Gary)Taylor Thornburgh; Mary Ellen (Gary) Ward; son-in-law Donnie Smith. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (Harrell) Gary; son Jeff (Lisa) Gary, and daughter Lisa Gary Smith; grandchildren, Holly Gary, Paul Gary, Rory Smith, Marly Smith; brother Wallace William (Bill) Gary, sister Linda Louise (Gary) Langston (Jackie); several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Nick’s caregivers during his final months: Rettie Moore, Melissa Aaron and Darlene Simmons, as well as the many staff members from Amedisys Hospice.  There will be a private graveside service for family at Greenwood Cemetery on Saturday February 14 at 1 p.m. Later, there will a Celebration of Life on Saturday February 21 at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Farragut, with a receiving of friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 225 Jamestowne Blvd, Farragut, TN, 37934 or to Alzheimer's Tennessee, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.  Condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com.
