Elton Odell Penton Jr.

Elton Odell Penton Jr., age 50, passed away at his residence in Tallassee, TN. He loved living in his small A-frame home next to the lake in a community called “Top of World.” Odell worked as a groundskeeper for the City of New Orleans Golf Course for many years before continuing that same line of work in Tennessee. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was an avid Saints and LSU fan who loved to spend the afternoon watching football with his dogs Cooper and Loki by his side. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, willingness to help others, and the memories he made with the people who knew and loved him.

Elton Odell Penton Jr. is survived by wife Rebecca Rupe Penton, daughter Alexis Penton, grandchildren Ava Penton and Hendrix Baker, sisters LaChrisha Carnegie and Becky Ladner and numerous nieces and nephews who called him “Uncle Jr.”

He is proceeded in death by parents Elton Odell Penton Sr. and Rita Faye Magee Penton.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-7:00pm, Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel.
