Elmer Woodrow Foust age 90, of Knoxville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. He was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for 69 years. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and retired from Levi Strauss after 43 years. Elmer had a love for being a skilled carpenter, building and remodeling homes. Even designing and building his and Patsy’s home in which they called their “little piece of Heaven.” But most of all Elmer had so much love for his children and church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Imogene Foust; parents, Willie Foust and Clara Sanders Rhodes; granddaughter, Ashley Foust Carpenter; sister, Zelma (Ronald) Foust Graham; brothers, Laverne “Speedy” Foust and Billy Joe Foust; and sister-in-law, Flodena Smith.
Elmer is survived by his children: Tina Rogers (Gary), Mark Foust (Lynn), Gina Kitts (Mark), and Jeffrey Foust; grandchildren: Audrea Stinnett (Marty), Chris Tinch (Tiffany), Justin Rogers, Brandon Foust, Amber Lamance, Shonna Howell (Tyler), Taylor Foust, and Madison Foust; grand dog, Choco, 16 great-grandchildren: Alana, Meghan, Isaac, Joshua, Nathanel, Jhase, Jake, Addy, Kendall, Beckham, Saylor, Archer, K’ana, Easton, Lennon and Bowen; sisters-in-law, Betty Culvahouse (Joe) and Ola Foust; and brothers-in-law, Vance Harmon, Jr. (Sarah “Cookie”) and Rodney Smith.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to UT Hospice and special caregivers, Gary, Rebekah, Cheryl, Traci and Sandy for all their excellent care and love.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by a 2:00 PM funeral service officiated by Rev. Tom Aiken. Family and friends will travel in procession after the funeral to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery for an interment service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation of a bible to The Gideons International at www.sendtheword.org in memory of Elmer.
