Dovie Patterson

Dovie Patterson (Nee Emge), age 99, passed away on May 15, 2024. During WWII and after, she worked at the Y-12 and X-10 plants in Oak Ridge. After retiring in Oak Ridge, she moved to Gatlinburg where she continued to work at Beville Reagan Enterprises, and was active in her church. She began hiking the Smoky Mountains in her 60s and continued to do so until she was in her 80s – including after she had a knee replacement. She was a greeter at her church, Roaring Fork Baptist, in Gatlinburg, where she met and made many friendships which lasted decades. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Samuel and Mollie Emge, her sister, Lois Jean Neff, and her son, Ronald Dean Patterson. She is survived by her brothers, David Emge and Carl Emge of Powell, her son, Samuel Patterson of Canada, her granddaughter and her husband, Victoria and Matt Becton, and one great grandchild, Oswald Becton of Virginia, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was interred in a private ceremony at the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. She will be missed by her family and her many friends across the country.
