Douglas Bruce "Seaweed" Miller

Douglas Bruce “Seaweed” Miller, age 73, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2015. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Retta Lindsey Miller; brothers, John, Sandy, and Howard Miller; sisters, Charlotte Miller Murley, Nora “Pen” Miller Henson, Norma Miller, and Verna Miller; sister-in-law, Shirley Wallace Sweat; and brother-in-law, John Owenby. Survived by wife of 50 years, Linda Wallace Miller; children, Kevin and Tracey Miller Roper, Danny and Donna Miller Smiddy, Julie Miller, and Todd Miller; grandchildren, Taylor and Danielle Smiddy Pratt, Devin Smiddy, Lindsey, Cameron and Kaelynn Roper; great-granddaughter, Ava Lay; sister, Mary Miller Owenby of Texas; sisters-in-law, Maebelle Miller and Kay Miller; brother-in-law, Ralph Sweat; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 2:00 pm Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm, Rev. John Holland officiating. Family and friends will then proceed to Little Flat Creek Cemetery for interment.
