Doris June Booker Hubbs passed to heaven on February 23, 2024 in Kingsport, TN. She joined in heaven her husband of 59 years, James Arley Hubbs and her second husband of 8 years, Dana Boatman. She also was met by her twin daughters, Patricia Kaye and Marcia Faye, in heaven after 75 years and grandson, John Scott Stone. She was the eldest daughter of Clyde E. and Pearl Monroe Booker. She was also predeceased by her brother, Major Hilliard C. Booker and sister, Betty Booker Dukes Watson and sisters-in-law, Mildred Hubbs Wallace and Norma Hubbs Corum and brother-in-law, Allen Hubbs.
She is survived by daughters, Vickie Hubbs Elrod (Robert) of Bowling Green, KY and Karen Hubbs Ballard (Mike) of Kingsport, TN. Grandchildren surviving are Christopher S. Cameron (Julie), James R. Hale (Christina), Charles A. Hale, Lorrie Hale Olinger (Josh), Megan Cameron Paulson (Brett), Rebecca Elrod Graham (Jonathan), Pam Stone and Brad Pollock. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: McClain and Cooper Cameron, Hailey and Kendall Paulsen, Jaxon Hale, Sutton, Oakleigh & Gage Graham and Rachel and Ryan Stone. She answered to “Grandmama” for so many. She is also survived by her brother, Boyd H. Booker of Griffin, GA and sister, Linda Booker White of Huntsville, AL, sister-in-law, Jean Hubbs Skeen of Maynardville, TN and many nieces and nephews.
June was a graduate of Tater Valley Academy, Horace Maynard High School and the Gillenwater School of Music. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and served as church organist for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, James, and many hours playing cards with friends and family (and she usually won!) She worked in banking for Fountain City Bank, City & County Bank and Suntrust Bank.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be directed to Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 29th from 4:00-6:00 PM at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 4328 E. Emory Road, Knoxville, TN 37938 with the service following at 6:00 PM. She will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery in the mausoleum with her husband, James A. Hubbs, on Friday morning, March 1st at 11:00 AM. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com
