Donna Dixon Tyrrel

Donna Lee Dixon Tyrrel, age, 78, of Knoxville, Tennessee, departed this life in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 2, 2024, following a long, hard fought battle with cancer. She was born November 5, 1945, to the late Alice Lee and P.C. Dixon. Donna was a graduate of the original Knoxville East High School and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She was a great fan of the "Lady Vols" and a Patron with the Clarence Brown Theater. Donna regularly attended the games and plays until her health no longer supported her participation. She and her family were longtime members of Magnolia Avenue United Methodist Church where she served first as a volunteer and later as the church secretary following her retirement from the Social Security Administration. Tragedy struck the family in 1993, when her husband, John David Tyrrel and nine-year-old daughter, Amanda Tyrrel were killed in a horrific vehicle accident. Donna was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Prent C. Dixon who passed away suddenly in 2013. She is survived by her family, Joy Lee (John) Naylon and Sidney Lee of Metairie, LA; Bob (Donna) Anderson and Steve (Julie) Dixon, Lt. Col. Stephan Skylar (Susan) Silvers, all of Knoxville, TN; Tina Tyrrel of Chicago; Rebecca Winters of Sevierville, TN; special friends, Mike and Cindy Harvey and Joyce Dial. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at noon. Reverend Tim Johnson, officiating.
