Knoxville

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Wayne Gilbert, Sr., age 66, who entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Donald dedicated over 30 years of his life to working in construction, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. Above all else, Donald’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted father, proud grandfather, loving brother, caring uncle, and faithful friend whose love and guidance will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Although his passing was sudden, his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace, reunited with the Lord and the loved ones who welcomed him into Heaven. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. As we say goodbye for now, we hold onto the promise that this is not farewell forever, but simply, “see you later.”

Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kimberly Gilbert; his parents, Walter A. Gilbert, Edna Lethco, and Henry Lethco; his grandparents, Ed Hayes and Pauline Hayes; his brother, Walter E. Gilbert, Sr.; his sister, Diane Shuler; his father-in-law, William Bailey, Sr.; his brothers-in-law, William Bailey, Jr. and Virgil Shuler; and his nephew, Wesley Staley.

He is survived by his son, Donald W. Gilbert, Jr. (Alexus); his mother-in-law, Ella Bailey; his cherished grandchildren, Aspen, Matthew, and Madilyn; his sister, Pamela Allen (Danny); his sisters-in-law, Linda Gilbert and Kelly Bailey; his special aunt, Shirley Scrudder; nieces Kayla Reagan, Brittany Allen (Brooke), Danielle Agee (William), Kari Bryan, Tiffany Shuler, Brandi Taylor (Brian), and Corrie Shuler; his nephew, Walter E. Gilbert, Jr.; great-nieces and great-nephews Connor Reagan, Hank Allen, Waylon Agee, Magnolia Allen, Stefan Gilbert, Justin Gilbert, Alyssa Gilbert, and Triston Branson; as well as many other beloved great-great nieces, great-great nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Tommy Bellamy will officiate.

Donald will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his kind heart, and the countless memories he created with those he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
