Don G. Lett, loving husband, father, papaw, and friend, age 98, born (09/13/1925-09/16/2023). Class of ’43 graduate of Central High School. U.S. Navy Veteran. Retired from KUB after 48 years in the Electrical Engineering Department. He was a long-time member of Gillespie Ave. Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, and sang in the church choir. He loved his UT Vols, Lady Vols, and the Braves. He also enjoyed playing softball and bowling with his KUB/Church Leagues, and spending time with his Tuesday and Friday coffee buddies. He was preceded in death by beloved wife of 79 years, Ethel M. Jeffries Lett; parents, step-father Ed and mother Edrei Smelcer, father Dewey and step-mother Georgia Lett, father in-law and mother in-law, Elmer S. Jeffries and Deborah C. Jeffries; step-mother in-law, Nanny B. Jeffries; sister, Marjorie Pierce; brother in-law, S. Yates Pierce; brother in-law and sister’s in-law, John F. Jeffries (Evelyn) W. Jeffries (Agnes) Jeffries. He is survived by daughter, Donna K. Harris (Bill)- McMinnville, TN; daughter, Martha A. Sharp (W.H (Dub)- Lawrenceville, GA; son, M. Kerry Lett (Brenda), Knoxville- TN; daughter Laura E. Holt (Greg)- Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, David Harris (Kristy) – Murfreesboro, TN; Donnie Harris- McMinnville, TN; Jeff Sharp- Bethlehem, GA; Donna Sharp (Steve McCollum)- Roswell GA; Eric Lett (Melissa)- Knoxville, TN; Lindsey Lett- Knoxville, TN; Kendall Holt Kahl- Knoxville, TN; Karly Bales (Gavin)- Knoxville, TN; twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include, David Harris, Donnie Harris, Jeff Sharp, Eric Lett, Gavin Bales, and David Jeffries. Family will receive friends 12:30-2:30pm, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, with procession to follow to Greenwood Cemetery for a 3:00pm graveside service, officiated by Rev. Wayne Hubbs. In lieu of flowers family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com
