Don Morton Edmondson

Don Morton Edmondson, 68, was born on February 11, 1958, and died peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Don was a lifelong member of Sharon Baptist Church. Don was a lifelong resident of Halls Crossroads, and his family has been in the Halls community for over 100 years. Many are familiar with the cows and the blue Christmas tree on the Edmondson family farm on Emory Rd. He worked with their family's construction company for nearly 50 years. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and on the farm. Don also never lost his appetite for learning. An experience that had a great and lasting impact on his life was a 6-month mission trip to Burkina Faso, Africa as a young adult.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard S. Edmondson Jr. and Lena Grace Albright Edmondson; and infant sister, Dorothy Ann.

   He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Cate Edmondson; daughter, Laura Edmondson and partner Alex Piechowski-Begay; daughter, Allie Edmondson and partner, Chad Mingie; and four precious grandchildren: Rocco, Cyra, Florence, and Myla. He is also survived by brothers, Allen (Lynn), Bob (Connie), Keith (Karen); and brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Kathy Cate; and mother-in-law, Vivian Cox Wells; as well as cousins and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.

   The family will receive friends at Sharon Baptist Church on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 5:00pm-7:00pm, followed by a 7:00 PM funeral service with Rev. Mark McCoig officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:45am for an 11:00am interment. In lieu of flowers, Don asked for contributions to be made to either the local PBS station (1611 East Magnolia Ave. Knoxville, TN. 37917) or the Sharon Baptist Building Fund (7616 Pedigo Road Knoxville, TN 37938).
