Diane W. Hicks, age 76, of Knoxville, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, December 5, 2025. She was born on March 2, 1949, in Virginia and was later adopted by her beloved parents, Steve and Lillie Woods. She was of the Baptist faith, and she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Diane, as she was affectionately known, was a beacon of joy and light in the lives of those who knew her. She cherished her family and friends deeply, embracing them with unwavering love and kindness. Her hazel eyes sparkled with warmth and beauty, reflecting the goodness within her. Diane possessed a remarkable wit and gift for storytelling, weaving tales that left everyone laughing until they cried. Her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter created lasting memories that will forever be treasured.
Throughout her career, she worked in various fields and held high-level support positions. Of her career achievements, she was exceptionally proud to be the owner of Sincerely Yours by Diane, an upscale gift shop in the heart of downtown Knoxville. She had a passion for sharing unique treasures, cultivating relationships with people, and showcasing her creativity.
Her passing has left a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be cherished as a testament to the boundless love, endless laughter, and genuine joy she brought into the lives she touched so deeply.
Diane is survived by her husband of 27 years, Paul Hicks; daughters, Donna Ford (Doug) and Lora Lively (Mike); children by marriage: John Ailor-Hicks (Tammy), Brandi Hicks and Sheena Clemmons; grandchildren: Kennedee Ford, Matthew Myers, Jerrod Myers, Joshua Ford, Caden Lively and Delaney Farinella (Ethan); sisters-in-law: Connie Smith, Susie Anderson (special friend), and Cindy Hicks. She also leaves behind nephew, Justin Bayless, and close friends Janet Harrell, Vickie Myers, and Margo Ownby.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Lillie Woods; sisters, Ruth Snyder and Linda Bayless; brother-in-law, Larry Bayless; and mother-in-law and very special friend, Lorraine Hicks.
The family will receive friends Monday, December 15, 2025, from 5:00-6:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM.
