Dennis Carson Wilkerson Sr.

Dennis Carson Wilkerson, 69, of Corryton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his son Dennis Carson, Jr., his parents Carson and LaVerne Wilkerson, and his sisters Cindy Bryant and Kathy Rowden. He leaves behind his wife, Martha Spitzer; his children, Jessie, Jud, and Tess; his daughter- and sons-in-law Heather, Brian, and Jeremy; his grandchildren Addy, Ella, and Deacon; siblings Carol Cruze (and husband Guille) and Tommy Wilkerson (and wife Lynn); his Aunt Janet; his many cousins, nephews, and nieces; and his dogs and cat. Dennis was a graduate of Gibbs High School, class of ’71. As a window salesman for Wilkerson, Inc., he knew every backroad in East Tennessee and never met a stranger. He adored his wife, with whom he built a house and made a life-long home. Dennis loved music and UT sports, never missed an opportunity to tell a joke, and delighted in spending time with his grandkids, who knew him as Papaw. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life Service 7:00 p.m., Rev. Bruce Marston officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Clapps Chapel Cemetery 7420 Clapps Chapel Road Corryton for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
