David was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, to Norman and Sally Powell. He carried his Texas roots with pride throughout his life, especially when cheering on his beloved Texas Longhorns.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including spending time at the beach with his family, relaxing with his cherished fur-babies, CharlieBear and Simba, and creating lasting memories with those he loved most.

A true car enthusiast, David had a deep passion for all things automotive. Whether working on a project, racing, or simply sharing stories about cars, these pursuits brought him great happiness. He also enjoyed cooking and took pride in preparing meals and smoking food for family and friends, often bringing people together through his warmth and generosity.

David also shared a special bond with many lifelong friends from Texas, including Perez, Catfish, Cracker, Ricardo, and Tony, as well as his cherished Budweiser buddies, Big Dog buddies, and U.S. Foods buddies. These friendships were a meaningful part of his life and were filled with laughter, loyalty, and lasting memories.

David was preceded in death by his father, Norman Powell.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sarah Powell; his daughter, Emily Powell (Mini-Me); his mother, Sally Starrett; his brothers, Scott (Maire) Powell of Tennessee and Mark Powell of Hawaii; his sister, Melissa (David) of Texas; several stepbrothers; Aunt Deborah (Jerry); and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Even in passing, David’s generosity continued. Through his selfless decision to become an organ donor, he gave the gift of life and hope to others, leaving behind a legacy of compassion that will continue to touch countless lives.

In accordance with David’s wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no services held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Academy (7706 Ewing Rd Powell, TN 37849).
