David Wayne Latham (Worm), age 76, of Powell, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
David was of the Baptist faith and attended Brickyard Baptist Church, Highland View Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church at various times during his life. He was a graduate of Powell High School Class of 1967. David was an Army Veteran stationed in Fort Bragg, NC. He was the Owner/Operator of Depot Recapping Tire and Bobcat Excavating Company. David retired from Dale Insulation.
He is preceded in death by parents, Fred and Clara Latham; sisters, Joyce Lobetti and Dorothy Cook; brothers, Freddy and Kyle Ronald (Stink).
He is survived by his sons, Chris and David Jr.; former wife and mother of his sons, Gail Bishop; he is also survived by his current girlfriend and faithful caregiver, Sharon Coonrod; siblings, Betty Lee and Evelyn Lingerfelt of Fayetteville, GA, Jean Faison of Jonesboro, GA, Helen Wynegar (Lawrence) of Powell, TN; Gary Latham (Kelly) of Temple, GA; He also leaves behind to cherish many fond memories: a special young lady, Kendra Morris, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and other special friends too numerous to list individually.
The family would like to thank Tennessee Cancer Specialist, Amedisys Hospice, Danielle, Lee, Justine and Abby.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 7:00pm with Alvin Hammer officiating. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 12:15pm at East TN State Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway, for a 12:30pm graveside service with full military honors provided by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Reed, Dale Jones, Hubert (Hubby) Davis, Steve Butcher, Jonathan Parigin, Nic Lamb and Zac Lamb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
