David Everett Bruner

David Everett Bruner, age 69, of Knoxville, died Thursday October 22, 2026, at his home.

He grew up in the Maryville area where his family served in churches in Rockford and Cedar Grove and frequently found retreat in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. He graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1975. He worked as a salesman for several companies in the Knoxville area, enjoyed his many friends, and was an avid follower of UT Athletics. He was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church where he matured his faith in Jesus Christ, relished fellowship, and served with ministries such as ELL and Operation Christmas Child.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Katharine E. Bruner, his father, Arthur C. Bruner, Jr., and his brother, Robert H. Bruner.

He is survived by his wife, Shanda Bruner; his children: P. Jordan Bruner of San Diego, CA, Leila (Nathan) Myers of Knoxville, and Daniel C. Bruner of Knoxville; his grandchildren: Maddox, Weston, and Brandt Myers; his siblings: Frances Marandi and Edward Bruner (both of Chattanooga), and Beth (Robert) Nielsen of Chapel Hill, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the valet staff and infusion nurses of Fort Sanders Medical Center and the service staff of Cracker Barrel on Merchant Drive.

A memorial service will be held at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, November 6 at 6:00pm with Pastor Kent Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:00pm.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Iglesia Knox, care of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church or Cedar Grove Baptist Church of Maryville,TN.
