Daniel Ray Skeen, age 67, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Tennova North Hospital following a courageous and deeply inspiring 19-year battle with Multiple Myeloma, an extremely aggressive blood cancer.
Born on October 7, 1959, to Bob Lewis Skeen and Wilma Sliger Skeen. Daniel grew up in a home with four other brothers. He was a long-time member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church. He graduated from Central High School and continued his education by completing the Training and Technology (TAT) Program at the Y-12 facility in Oak Ridge, TN to become a skilled machinist. When he left, he was a member of the Y-12 Security Force.
Daniel and his wife, Sharon, later on opened Seal of Approval providing asphalt and concrete needs to residential and business customers in the Knoxville, Sevierville and Gatlinburg areas.
When he was diagnosed with cancer, he reluctantly had to close their business. Even as health challenges increased, Daniel’s spirit never wavered. He faced each day with a remarkable strength. His long road of illness brought many difficult days, but he always found a way to smile, crack jokes and show his love for family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Wilma Skeen; his two older brothers, Buster and Greg Skeen; his son, John Skeen; a niece, Corbyn Skeen Gresham; sister-in-law, Beverly Skeen.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Evans Skeen; three children, Candace Santos Skeen, Sean Christopher Skeen (Jessica), and Zachary Evan Skeen; five grandchildren, Chase Cooper, Logan Skeen, Ashley Skeen, Hanna Cooper and Ethan Skeen; one great grandchild, Rosie Cooper; brothers, Todd Skeen (Kim) and Rod Skeen (Janet); sister-in-law, Tromala Skeen (wife of Buster Skeen); along with nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. There will be special remarks made by Rev. Todd Stinnett beginning at 5:00pm.
