On December 10th this world lost a great man, Dan McCoy. He was dearly loved by his family, and will always be remembered as a dedicated husband, exceptional father, and one of a kind father-in-law.

A devoted fan of Tennessee Volunteers, Dan shared many fond memories with his son, Mark McCoy, as they watch their favorite team play time and time again. Rocky Top is not only an anthem to the Tennessee Volunteers, but today it symbolizes the bond between a father and son. Dan was also an avid golfer, who loved playing with his brother Jack and his son Mark. Throughout his life, Dan left a remarkable impression on everyone he met; thanks to his quick and funny personality, he managed to capture the attention and affection of many around them. His daughter-in-law, Stacy McCoy, will forever cherish the many nights after dinner, where Dan would patiently wait for his dessert. Having a sweet tooth, and a unique sense of humor about life, are just a few of the many things they both shared.

Besides dedicating his life to his family, Dan had one of the strongest work ethics and dedicated fifty years of his life working for McDonald’s as a manager. Here, he was able to build a good career and provide a good life for his wife and son.

Preceded in death by parents, Frances McCoy and Dorothy Radigan; son, Michael Smith. Survived by wife of 54 years, Ann McCoy; son, Mark (Stacy) McCoy; grandchildren, Cedric and Shayla Townsend; and great-grandchildren Leilani, Calem and Coltan, special family friend Christin Jennings. Special thank you to Nikki Harper and all his girls at Oak Pointe Assisted Living. Family will receive friends 4:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. Family and friends will gather at 9:00 AM Friday, December 13, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel for the funeral service, Rev. Tim Inklebarger officiating. Following the service, there will be a procession from the funeral home to Eastview Memorial Gardens for interment. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com
