Cynthia "Dianne" Brown

January 2, 1941 — July 26, 2024

Knoxville

Cynthia "Dianne" Brown, nee Cass, age 83 of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest "Donnie" Brown.  Dianne was born on January 2, 1941, and was a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.  Dianne is survived by her four siblings Doug, Danny, Debbie, and David, and by her son Greg and grand-daughter Addy, her son Eric and son-in-law Nick, and her son Mark, daughter-in-law Neela, and grandsons Avery and Landon.

Dianne received her bachelor's degree from Centre College in Danville, KY followed by her master's degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.  She retired from the Tennessee Department of Health Microbiology Laboratory after a career of over three decades.

Dianne was a lifelong devotee to the United Methodist Church and loved singing in the choir.  She had a zest for knowledge and traveled around the world.  She loved to cook and entertain, and was happiest with a home full of family, friends, and food!  She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, who in turn cherished their time with their "Nanna".  Dianne spent her life serving the Lord and caring for her family, but she always took time to enjoy a good laugh and a glass of pinot grigio!

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church 1620 North Central Street Knoxville, TN 37917 followed by a 4:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service, Rev. Dennis Loy officiating.  Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2024 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier) for a 2:00 p.m. committal service.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church.   Condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com.
