Clara Jean (Cassady) Mink

June 23, 1929 — October 28, 2023

Knoxville

Clara Jean Cassady Mink, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2023. A loving mother, wife, Grandma, and Aunt Clara, she grew up in Fountain City and graduated from Central High School in 1947.

Clara was smart, determined, willing to try new things, and a “doer.” As a high school student, she took a drafting class and completed drawings for what would later become the family’s first mountain home in Gatlinburg. The Smoky Mountains became one of her favorite places to visit, host family, friends, and simply relax. She also possessed a strong business acumen and, along with her husband, Charlie, developed, owned, and managed Normandy Chateau Apartments for many years.

She loved traveling with Charlie and exploring the midwest; however, her most memorable and impactful trip was visiting the Holy Land. Clara’s main joy and love in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Inskip Baptist Church, where she was a youth Sunday School teacher for many years and later a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City. Clara’s cheerful giving set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Charles E. Mink, Sr.; parents, Lee and Arlena Cassady; siblings, Wayne Cassady, Sr. and Pauline Caton.

She is survived by children, Greg (Sheila) Brittian, Debbie (Tim) Hopper, and Paul (Ginger) Mink; grandchildren, Matt (Katie) Hopper, Ryan (Kailyn) Brittian, Phillip (Hannah) Hopper, Rachel Hopper, Daniel (Emily) Brittian, and Jordan, Tyler & Alyssa Mink; great-grandchildren Will Reams, Caden & Kailee Brittian, and Henry & June Hopper; sister, Joan Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to expend special gratitude to the staff of Oakwood Senior Living and Caris Hospice for their help and loving care. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 4th from 12-2 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home in Fountain City, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ron Mouser officiating. Immediately following the service, family and friends will go in procession to Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 3:00 PM interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emerald Youth Foundation (EmeraldYouth.org), Samaritan’s Purse Israel Projects (SamaritansPurse.org) or Stop Soldier Suicide (StopSoldierSuicide.org). Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City is serving the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mynattfh.com
