Christie Jeaneen Hicks (Whitsell), lovingly known as “Sissy” or “Sis” to just about everyone who knew her, passed away on May 1, 2026, in Tennessee. She was one of a kind—caring, full of laughter, and someone who could make anyone smile, no matter the day.
She leaves behind the people she loved most in this world—her children, Kaitlyn Whitsell and Zachrey Hicks; her grandchildren, Christopher, Zayne, Kobie, Kamdyn, and Avalei; her high school sweetheart and fiancé, Teddy Neff; her mother, Darla Miller, and stepfather, Fred Miller; and her siblings, Jerry Whitsell, Tina Humphrey, Katrina Miller (husband Justin Edwards), Frankie Miller, Sheila Miller, and Jay Whitsell.
She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews—Nick, Austin, Wyatt, Ashley, Wesley, Tyler, Derrick, Julian, Brantley, Laikyn, Marissa, Brianna, Haley, and Alex—and many great-nieces and nephews who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Adolph; and her stepmother, Debbie.
Sissy had the biggest heart and loved the simplest things in life. She could find joy anywhere—whether it was listening to rock music (especially AC/DC), talking about Bigfoot, adding another shot glass to her collection, decorating for the holidays, or diving into true crime stories.
She never missed a chance to take a picture—sunsets, flowers, animals at the zoo—if it was beautiful or made her smile, she wanted to hold onto it. That’s just who she was: someone who noticed the little things and made them feel special.
She worked at Weigel’s, where her friendly face became a bright spot in people’s day. She didn’t just serve customers—she cared about them, laughed with them, and made them feel seen.
More than anything, Sissy loved her family and her friends. They were her world. She was the “favorite” in every role she had—favorite sister, favorite aunt, favorite friend—because she gave so much of herself to the people she loved.
There will never be another like her. The laughter she brought, the love she gave, and the memories she created will stay with all of us forever.
The family will receive friends 5:00pm - 6:30 pm, Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 6:30pm. Pastor Teddy Metcalf officiating.
