It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chris K Rickman, beloved father, grandfather, and devoted Christian, who passed away on November 13, 2024 at the age of 69. He was a man whose love, kindness, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born on December 5th 1954 in Baytown TX, Chris lived a life marked by service to others and a deep commitment to his family and country. Chris served honorably in the Air Force from 1975 to 1979. His time in service was marked by a commitment to his country and a deep sense of pride in his work. After his military service, Chris continued to embody the values of integrity, service, and dedication in his daily life, inspiring everyone who knew him. He was a loving father to John Rickman, Heather Brown (Gary), Michael Rickman (Caroline), April Bassett (Jeremy), and Amy Rickman, and a proud grandfather to Blake, Justin, Darius, Kristian, Adaline, Gabriel, Jasmine, Roman, Ava, Ezekiel, and Ren. He had 3 sisters Mikele, Rhonda (Bob), and Victoria. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them, offering unwavering support, wisdom, and kindness.
Chris was an avid enthusiast of classic cars, motorcycles, and airplanes. He once worked on getting his pilot's license since he loved flying so much. He also had a lifelong fascination with God’s creation. His love for photography captured moments that told stories, and he had a keen eye for beauty in the world around him. He loved to laugh, be silly, sing, dance, and play guitar. Or whether behind the lens, or drawing in his notepad, Chris’s creativity and talent was ever-present.
Those who knew Chris will remember him not only for his talents but for his warm and inviting presence. His humor, wit, and generosity touched countless lives, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Chris' life was a testament to love, passion, and the beauty found in simple moments. Though Chris is no longer with us, his love and legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends and family who will carry on his memory. He was preceded in death by his father Darrell Rickman, and his mother Gloria Rickman.
A burial service to celebrate Chris’s life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920, which will begin at 10 am EST.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made towards Chris' funeral costs.
