Cheerful Annette Grubb

December 27, 1942 — November 20, 2022

Cheerful Annette (Dalton) Grubb, 79, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, after an illness. She was born on December 27, 1942, in Corryton, Tennessee to Kyle and Zetta Dalton. Cheerful grew up in Corryton where she attended Gibbs High School graduating in 1960. After graduation, she worked at Lay Packing Company in Knoxville where she met and married her husband, the late Clay Grubb. Cheerful went on to work for various companies but most recently spent many years at Mid-Lake Manufacturing Company (Loki Nets) before retiring from full-time work at the age of 78. She was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church in Tater Valley as well as a member of the Arema Chapter No.11 Eastern Star. She will be remembered for her big heart always wanting to share whatever she had. She was an amazing cook, and everyone loved eating her delicious caramel brownies and old-fashioned stack cakes. She loved shopping, especially with friends, at local jewelry shows in Gatlinburg. She was an extremely hard worker taking pride in working full-time long past normal retirement age. She was fiercely independent and a bit mischievous. Most of all, she will be remembered as a wonderful mom and the best Nan in the world to her grandson. Cheerful is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Amanda Grubb; her daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Brent Boling; her beloved grandson, the love of her life, Peyton Boling; step-grandchildren, Jonathon and Jessica Macon; sister, Carolyn Merritt; brothers, Frank Dalton, Terry Dalton (Nancy), and J. Gordon Dalton (Karen); brothers-in-law, Johnny Grubb (Jane), Lee Wayne Grubb (Dorma) and Wayne Hayes; sisters-in-law, Annette Farrow (Damon), Judy Beeler (Jackie), Louise Patterson and Gail Dalton; several nieces, nephews and extended family. Cheerful was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Grubb; her parents, Kyle and Zetta Dalton; her sister Frances Staley and her brother, Darrell Dalton among other beloved family members. A reception for family and friends will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Gibbs Ruritan Club Building located at 7823 Tazewell Pike, Corryton, TN. Cheerful was a lifetime organ donor and supporter of organ donation.
