With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we share the passing of Charlotte Rountree Leasure who took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2026, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. A Beloved and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, mamaw, aunt, niece, cousin and friend.
As a devout Christian servant, Charlotte walked faithfully with God, consistently relying on prayer. She held Jesus close on her life’s journey and leaned on the Holy Bible for every answer. A talented singer and musician, she had an affinity for Gospel music and classic hymns. Charlotte deeply loved the Lord and her church family.
Charlotte was born to Rebekah Arnwine and Larry O’Neal Rountree in Columbia, Tennessee, September 3, 1950. She grew up in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee and then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee during her childhood. A proud graduate of Rule High School, Charlotte expanded her horizons and became a resident of Washington D.C. upon her high school graduation in 1968. After a few years, Charlotte then resided in Dayton, Ohio where she met her late husband, Robert E. Leasure at the University of Dayton. Some short years later, they became proud parents to their daughter, Robin Elizabeth Leasure, completing their family.
Charlotte cherished family gatherings and photographs of which she had an extensive collection. She is rightfully known as the family historian and memorized every important date, milestone, and memory sharing these proudly through stories, journal entries, scrapbooks, photo albums, and social media. She was a loving grandmother to Averie and Matthew; always encouraging them, offering solid wisdom through timeless love that only a grandmother can give. Charlotte had a special place in her heart for the University of Tennessee Volunteers. You could hear her proudly singing Rocky Top, wearing her orange and white, and cheering for the Vols during all seasons.
Countless loved ones have been inspired and encouraged by her nurturing and helping nature, wisdom, compassion, storytelling, devotion to family, and most importantly her faith in God.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Leasure; mother, Rebekah Dale Arnwine; stepfather, Luther Arnwine; father, Larry O’Neal Rountree; stepmother, Beatrice Rountree.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Robin Leasure Ellison (Jeremy); granddaughter, Averie Elizabeth Ellison; grandson, Matthew Ryley Ellison; sister, Tina Arnwine Ledbetter (Michael); sister, Mary Jane King (Mark); brother, Neal Rountree (Janet); brother, Larry Tony Anthony Rountree (Pam); as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and precious friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love that is etched into the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing her during her lifetime.
Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her life and sharing cherished memories on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel.
